Reported in the area are various types of snakes, bob cats, mountain lion, coyotes, and several endangered species (Kangaroo mice, Mt. Hermon June Beatles, Silver Ferns, Manzanita Bush).

"I'd come here again in a heartbeat" was the sentiment our group. It was over 50 years ago that our group started high school together, and once a year we get together to share memories. This was one of our best, and the beautiful and relaxing property had a great deal to do with it. Everything was clean and in good working order. The kitchen is first rate, and we gathered fresh rosemary from the garden to use with our fresh bread. Lunch in the patio area was perfectly delightful. The staff at Cosa Nostra in Ben Lomond treated us like royalty for Saturday night dinner. We only had 5 sleeping over, and that was comfortable. We would have been hard pressed to sleep 7 adults. I regretted not bringing a power strip as I travel with four things that need daily charging.

It is always hard to leave this special place; I believe this is the 5th or 6th summer we have called Ben Lomond our home for a month. The property is clean and well equipped with an amazing kitchen, just as described. The master bed is very comfortable and the hot tub is just a few steps away. I love picking fresh herbs from the garden and the grapes were wonderful this year. Lolly is constantly improving the outside area as well. It's a park like setting with quail, squirrels, deer and numerous other birds. It's a little piece of paradise.

This house was absolutely charming. Very peaceful and well taken care of. Owners were for very attentive. We visited several museums, the beach, and the boardwalk during our stay so the home was perfectly centrally located. Also, shopped at the local Safeway and cooked in the beautiful kitchen. The tree was breathtaking and we regularly left the curtains open to admire and converse about it. We had wild turkeys almost every day and several deer visit us during our stay. The turkeys liked perching on the fence in the driveway, it was quite amusing. Thank you Lolly and Lindley for providing such a wonderful place to stay! We will be back!

The owners were very friendly and helpful and the house was very nice. My only issue was that the pillows were not very comfortable (there were lots of very thin or very lumpy pillows). Otherwise, this house has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. Highly recommend!

It is always nice to return to this rental in Quail Hollow. Coming here since 2013 it is not only comfortable but a wonderful location in Santa Cruz for family visits and exploring.

Close to Felton, Ben Lomond and a short drive to Santa Cruz. Very relaxing, with a very nice outdoor area and BBQ. 2 decent sized bedrooms and a couple of other sleeping options for extra quests, clean, and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The house is very comfortable and has everything you could need. Came from Sacramento where it has been unbearably hot. Wouldn't you know it the first day here was unusually hot (at least for Santa Cruz). Second day cooled down some then it was nice and cool like normal. Fortunately the air conditioner in the front of the house cools that part down then by bedtime you open up the doors and use the fan. It is actually pretty close to a lot of stuff. The kids enjoyed zip lining. We went to the boardwalk. Had lunch one day in Capitola and hung out at Davenport Landing Beach one afternoon. Every evening enjoyed the hot tub.

Wow, where do I start? We have stayed in the Santa Cruz area many times but never in the mountains and we loved it!! This house is charming and adorable and had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare large meals. Many rentals have minimal kitchen supplies but this home was well equipped with everything we needed. There were plenty of dishes/cookware and even some spices and paper products. It was nice to have both a standard coffee pot and a Keurig allowing everyone to have their favorite coffee. The linens and bedding were plentiful and high quality. The beds were cozy and comfortable. The best part was the property. This home is very private with plenty of room to roam. There was always a shady or sunny spot depending on what we needed at the time. We enjoyed our coffee in one sitting area but our afternoon “happy hour” in a different area. The spa was warm, clean and comfortable and a wonderful way to end the day. The drive to the beach was easy and only about 20 minutes but there is plenty to do right close to the house. This is a great place to visit as it offers things to do for both relaxation and activity within just a few miles. We certainly felt that this is one of the best rentals we have stayed in. The owner, Lolly was very helpful and checked up on us to be sure all was going well. It is obvious that she loves this home and she takes pride in how it is maintained. The house and the grounds were well groomed and taken care of. We look forward to our next trip. Thank you!!

Myself and seven close friends had an amazing time at the bungalow. We were able to enjoy the local golf course (Pasatiempo), the downtown area and the amazing backyard that Lolly and Lindley provide. I think our favorite features were the fire pit and garden! Although we didn't get a chance to use the hot tub, it was ready for our immediate use. Thanks again Lolly and Lindley for allowing us to rent your beautiful (and comfortable) house! Have a great year!

From the first interaction to the last Lolly and Lindley have been a pleasure to work with. The home is exactly as advertised - actually it exceeded my expectations. It was extremely clean upon arrival and everything was in working order. It was decorated nicely with comfortable furniture and super comfortable mattresses. We were there for Thanksgiving and the modern kitchen was full of handy cooking appliances and utensils. We hugged redwoods, did a little wine tasting, took a little tour of Santa Cruz and a couple of hikes. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a getaway. PS: As their title states, we saw birdsong, deer, wild turkeys, white clouds, blue skies, starlight and more!

Spent two nights here with my wife and our two boys (ages 4 and 6). The house was very comfortable and the location was serene. Friendly neighbors, lots of space/trails to explore, and plenty of nearby activities. Everything was very well organized, but when I did have a few questions, the owners answered very promptly. Overall, an excellent experience. Would highly recommend.

We spent four nights at the house and had a wonderful visit traveling with 2 adults and 2 kids. The house is clean, comfortable and it's in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Santa Cruz yet just a short 15 minute drive away. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, comfortable beds, modern kitchen and outdoor spaces. There is great hiking and redwood trees just minutes away and some good, laid-back dining options. It was easy to take in some activities in the mountains and then spend time in Santa Cruz or along the coast all in a day without feeling overwhelmed. I believe that someone mentioned the lack of closet space, particularly in the master bedroom and that is accurate but not something that bothered us. We had a little mishap at check in but Lolly was very helpful resolving this and following up to make sure we were settled in. We would gladly stay here again on another visit to the SC area!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this gem of a vacation home. It was a very well maintained place, beautiful fully stocked kitchen to cook in, lovely grounds to enjoy, awesome hot tub and peaceful environment, yet all within a short (and scenic) drive to Santa Cruz and the boardwalk, much preferred to staying in the crazy "hotel zone" and city where you can get stuck for the same amount of time in traffic and have just as long to drive without the beautiful surroundings of the back roads. The beds were extremely comfortable, the owners very friendly; they not only walked us through everything when we arrived, but before emailed us local goings on and reviewed specific things around the house that might make make our stay more enjoyable (where toys were for kids, where a night light was if that helped for the kids, for example) and were a delight to interact with. There were even extras she left like a robe out on the deck near the spa and slippers that made it feel almost spa-like at times. We truly could not have enjoyed ourselves more, and would highly recommend it as well as stay there again.

I would definitely recommend this rental. The home was clean and well maintained, and the description of the property is accurate. The house is not very large, about 1100 square feet, but it was more than adequate for our family of 4. The kitchen was my favorite part of the house, as it has everything you might need for cooking meals. The only thing I might recommend in the house is larger fitted sheets for the beds, since they did not fit the mattresses and came off every night. There are plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, and household items. Our 2 young children loved the hot tub and the swing under the gorgeous oak tree outside. We brought our two dogs, so the front fenced area was nice to have. The surrounding nature is peaceful and calming. We saw deer everyday, as well as wild turkeys that came to the yard. The location was ideal for us, since we wanted to feel somewhat secluded but wanted easy access to Santa Cruz. We visited Roaring Camp Railroads, Henry Cowell State Park, and Highlands Park as well as the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Natural Bridges State Park and Ano Nuevo. Keep in mind that the Trout Valley Inn burned down in June of 2016. My major complaint about this rental was that there was no written or printed guide at the house. The information about the rental is sent in the Home Away app, which was not accessible with my phone. That meant I had to plug in my computer to view the house rules, etc. If I did not have my computer with me, I wouldn't have been able to access the information once I got to the rental. Also, I really wanted to "unplug" so having to access information via technology was sort of a bummer. There is a binder at the house with manufacturer's manuals for the appliances, but I did not want to read manuals I wanted a concise summary of how to use the TV, air conditioner, hot tub, etc. which I did not have. I definitely recommend to the owners that they put together a written summary of how to use the appliances in the house, as well as the rules for checking out, etc. Being able to flip though a well written guide is much more relaxing than staring at a computer. That said, Lolly was extremely responsive and supportive when I had questions. Overall, a great rental in a beautiful area and ideal location.

This was an outstanding trip made possible by an outstanding property and outstanding owners. This home is not your normal "vacation rental." It's a real home with all the amenities and tastefully furnished. You genuinely only need to bring clothes and any food you wish to prepare. The area is beautiful, very quiet, and the neighbors were very welcoming as well. This is the kind of place you want to take care of because it's that well appointed and maintained. Our trip was made much more pleasant because of the owners help. I have been traveling to this area for 25 years and the homeowner was thoughtful enough to send an email with a bunch of new places to go that I have never been. Thank you for a great vacation and we'll be back soon!

We stayed in this lovely house for about 5 weeks during a move to the area. The house itself was in very good condition and the views around it were incredible. My family four LOVED the hot tub and gas fireplaces and I especially enjoyed the mountain views and trails just 5 minutes away. If you are looking for something secluded but also just 20-25 minutes from Santa Cruz, this place is a gem.

The Ben Lomond Bungalow offered a very pleasant stay for my wife and me and her parents. The open living room/kitchen layout allowed us to visit and catch up even when we were preparing meals in the well stocked kitchen. Plenty of pot/pans, table ware, utensils, keurig and drip coffee makers, etc. Preparing a full Thanksgiving dinner was easy. The views out the kitchen and living room windows are of a VERY large oak tree and meadow-like yard. It was cool and a bit rainy during our visit so we didn't use the hot tub or spend much time sitting on the benches provided. We did harvest from the garden some herbs and a little lettuce to dress up what would have been our boring dinner salads! A short 5 minute drive to Felton gets you to a Safeway, CVS, restaurants, etc. The bedrooms aren't large but are quite comfy with room to move around. We used the smaller extra room to store our luggage and used the closet in there to hang our clothes that we didn't want in drawers. The gas fireplace kept the main part of the house warm enough for us even though the outside temps were down at or below freezing at night. We didn't need the extra help of the radiant floor heater in the kitchen. The neighborhood is very quiet with the house on a cul-de-sac. The neighbors were friendly with a wave or hello when we were out in the yard or walking about. The internet access was very good. We don't watch TV at home but did take advantage of the cable here. Seemed like a good selection of channels. My father in law was able to find his racing and football as needed! All in all, a good stay. We would recommend this house to 2 couples or a small family.
